Monday, July 9, 2012 - Fog Delay

Kremmling, CO to Frisco, CO (46 Miles)

Thankfully it was a short ride today, because the day began with fog. Departure was delayed until 8:00am. Finally, the fog lifted enough so it was not at road level. The bummer thing was the lack of a shoulder to ride on, plus traffic was on the heavy side. For about 15 miles, the route took me off the main route, around the Green Mountain Reservoir, and by the little village of Heeney. Not only was traffic nonexistant, the views were very pretty of the reservoir. There were about ten cyclists (locals) that apparently had road up from Silverthorne. Locals don't tend to want to stop to chat like the touring cyclist will do. After joining the main road (Route 9) again, I has heavy traffic all the way into Silverthorne, Colorado. There was a very nice bike path out of town that skirted the Dillon Lake and I was able to ride right to our State Park campground. The campsite had a great view of the mountains and Dillon lake.

After I caught my breath, we went into town. Kim and I got haircuts, then we walked around some of the outlet stores in Silverthorne. Next, we drove to Breckenridge and explored a little bit before heading back to the campsite and fixed dinner. It was another full day.

Foggy Morning in Kremmling which is next to the Colorado River (not a very wide river at this point).

Campsite near Lake Dillon. Although the ladies are doing the dishes, I did the cooking.
