Sunday, June 10, 2012 - First Day Off the Trail

In Redmond, OR (0 Miles)
In the morning we had a big breakfast and went to church at Emmaus Lutheran (LCMS) in Redmond, OR. The people were extremely welcoming at the small church with attendance being about 40 people. It was a spiritually refreshing service. After church we ate lunch and rested for a time before going exploring in the area. About a 15 minute drive north we found a Crooked River Gorge, over 300 feet deep. It was very impressive. Next we drove a short distance to Smith Rock, which was a huge rock formation that jutted out of the ground and rose hundreds of feet into the air. It apparently is a very famous rock claiming area. There were many rock climbers on the face of the cliff and it was an amazing thing to witness. We made shish kabobs on the grill for dinner, Yum! It was a refreshing day!

 Twisted River Gorge
 Look at the Happy Couple!
I don't know do you really think the dogs would jump over the wall into the Gorge to get their ball...maybe?
Smith Rock and some of the crazy rock climbers.
Yes, that is a person hanging from the side of a cliff. What Nut!
