Monday, June 18, 2012 - Rest Day

In Grangeville, Idaho (0 Mile)

The day off at the Bear Den RV resort started with me preparing a big breakfast for everyone, to include pancakes, bacon, grapefruit, etc. It was good eating! Then, we had a family devotion time (we are having a hard time finding a Lutheran Church (LCMS) on Sundays).

As it was a cloudy cool and rainy day and we were just a mile from the actual town of Grangeville (population 3,228), we ventured in to see what trouble we could get into. We decided to celebrate Father's Day a day late and eat out at a local restaurant. You would think a town that size would have a number of eating establishments. Well, you have Subway (boring),  Oscar's (which was said to be expensive), Palenque Mexican (not a real option), and the Hilltop Restaurant (which was the recommendation from the RV park Lady, but only open until 3:00pm).  So, we lunched at the Hilltop, where the waitress knew everyone that came in by first name...except us. She was very nice though and our greasy hamburgers were yummy! Vera especially liked her homemade mushroom soup. After lunch we picked up some groceries, stopped for a latte coffee at the local Espresso drive thru place (there is at least one in every town/village in Oregon and Idaho.) The afternoon was spent playing some cards and dominoes. Of course Walt won in dominoes and the "guys" are the Pedro card champs.

It was a restful day, but tomorrow we have to hit the trail again.
