Sunday, August 5, 2012 - Day Off at the KY State Park

Rough River Dam State Resort Park, KY (0 Miles)

We enjoyed the usual day off stuff, like a big breakfast and relaxing at the campsite. There was a little rain today, but the temperatures were much milder, so we were able to sit outside most of the day. After family devotions, we ventured around the area, looking at some of the pretty homes along the reservoir. The campground is at the base of the earthen dam that creates a lake from the Rough River. Although it was not real busy, there were boats on the water. Features of the State park include a golf course, cabins, a lodge and a small airport. We drove around the very nice park and sat in the lobby of the lodge to watch the Olympics on the television, get some cell phone reception, plus to people watch. I tried to get on the internet but it kept cutting in and out. The blog has not been updated for a week. I suppose my blog followers have deserted me.

As a treat, we stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. It was OK, but nothing special. While getting ready to leave, two cyclists came riding up to take a break. Well, it was Brian and Stephanie who we had met in Chanute, Kansas. They looked hot, but it was good to see them and share a couple stories.

The balance of the day was spent relaxing and wishing we had TV reception to watch the Olympics…Bummer! Tomorrow is a 90 mile day to Bardstown, KY.
